September 13 Summer Sunset Walk

In partnership with the Sandy Hook Foundation, join us on Saturday, September 13 for our Summer Sunset Walk! Celebrate the season looking for all your favorite coastal birds. Grab your adventure buddy and join us on Saturday, September 13 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.

Birding is for everyone. All are welcome on our friendly and respectful Beachy Birder Adventures!

We will meet at Gateway National Recreation Area, Sandy Hook unit in Guardian Park (with the grilling areas, covered benches and public restrooms) and then head out on the paved multi-use pathway. We will walk for about two miles. Please dress for the weather, wear closed-toe shoes, bring water, layers, snacks, a hat, and binoculars if you have them. We have five pairs of 8×25 birding binoculars for you to borrow as needed, and we will have a spotting scope to look through as well.

Our outings are rain or shine but in the event of extreme weather we will reschedule for a more enjoyable experience. Let’s get birdy!

Meet at Guardian Park
Gateway National Recreation Area, Sandy Hook
326 Pennington St, Highlands, NJ 07732

Cost: $25/adult (children under 5 are free)
Space is limited to 25 to ensure a small group experience.
6 spots left!

Half of the proceeds from our Summer Sunset Walk will be donated to the Sandy Hook Foundation.

The Sandy Hook Foundation is the official friends group to the National Park Service at Sandy Hook, New Jersey, a unit of Gateway National Recreation Area. Established in 1989, the Foundation has funded cultural, educational, environmental, and conservation programs and has helped restore and preserve historic structures of the Sandy Hook Lighthouse and Fort Hancock — both National Historic Landmarks.

Our purpose is to lead guided bird walks throughout New Jersey, encouraging all to appreciate the beauty and wonder of nature. Beachy Birder Adventures gives everyone a chance to be curious, learn and discover something new. Our walks are low key and meant for the bird curious. We slow-bird. We look to meet people where they are through lighthearted humor.
